Below is the letter sent to all Colorado Legislators by PAD-CO

 

November 20th, 2011

Parents of Adults with Disabilities in Colorado (PAD-CO) has information, ideas, suggestions and feedback we want to provide to legislators.

However, most of us are extremely busy providing support and care to our adult children with disabilities and we don’t have time to provide input at the Capitol or even town hall meetings.  In a time of rapidly diminishing state funding resources for individuals and families with disabilities, our money is used for the care of our children and we can not hire a lobbyist.  Even the postage for this letter is a challenge.

We want to provide you with ideas on increasing efficiency of state services, the very significant effects of current and proposed legislation on our children and their families, additional avenues of funding for services, the elimination of waste and duplication of services and the consequences to families and Colorado of longer and never-ending waitlists.

In order to provide this information within our very limited resources, we would like to include you in our email distribution list (sending emails to «EMail») and telephone calls to «Phone».  We would encourage you to watch for our emails.  We are providing you with an email and telephone listing of parents you can contact who can supply you with specific information regarding the effect of legislation on their and others’ situation.

The listing is attached, and we would strongly encourage you to contact any of the persons listed for  information and feedback.  If you have other suggestions of how we might be better able to provide you with information and communicate with you (for example, a fax number, better email address or another phone number), please forward these ideas to Denver C.
